Helen lent me Da Vinci’s Code by Dan Brown. Well, surely, many people in Sg reading the book. I am kinda expecting the movie (coming May’06) as disappointing as Memoirs Of A Geisha. However, I read the book.

The beginning put me to sleep almost every other few pages. Sigh, I do not appreciate the ARTS, I mean really ARTS, paintings and bla bla bla.. fell asleep and dragged till one week later before reading with interest how the plot goes along.

Not so convenient to tell you much but the near-to-the-end was a twist. Nice but a mean one.

Well, catched the sneak preview of Memoirs Of A Geisha. Kinda disappointed. Did not expect a movie to move so fast, neglecting details here and there. But then… how much can you "squeeze" into a merely 2.5 hours show as compared to the book.

Hmmm… missed lots of it…

1) how Chiyo-chan got to know Tanaka-san, trip to Tanaka-san’s house with her sister Satsu and played with Tanaka-san’s daughter.

2) what Satsu did at the other "teahouse".

3) why geisha paint their lips smaller, why the kimono exposed their neck.

4) how Grandma passed away.

5) the hairclip Hatsumono claimed Sayuri stole but…

the list goes on and on…. well, if you have not read the book, try catch the show on big screen and tell me what you think.

The higher the expectation is, the worse the disappointment is.
