Discover the STOCK Genius In You…

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

I received this invitation from NUS to join in a Stock Challenge organised by POEMS. Haha.. to discover the stock genius in students..

The concept is exactly the same like trading stocks in real market. The only difference is, you do not have to pay a single cent to trade. On the contrary, you are given SGD 80,000 (SGD 100,000 if you register early) virtual cash to trade. Sound fun?

Check this website for the "fun" http://shares.poems.com.sg/

Because I registered earlier, I am given a trial period from 7th Aug to 18th Aug. Anything I gain or lost in this period will not be counted. The real challenge begins on 28th Aug till 6th Oct. There are of course, some rules and regulations, and your net profit will be calculated when the game ends. What’s more, the champion of the Individual category will be given SGD 1,000.

Me, being the IDIOT in stocks found new fun. Haha.. I understand how people feel when the stock they bought goes down the drain and I think I am addicted to this game. :-(

Anyone who have good tips in SGX, please "enlighten" me. (But please do not tips me something long term coz I am trading for only a few weeks period) I’ll treat you something good if I win the money. Hmmm… too early to dream. Dream on… :-p

Dear Diary…

Wednesday, August 9th, 2006

It’s Sg National Day today, but I just couldn’t sleep in late. Probably too excited to meet my 2 friends for lunch afterwards. One of whom I have not met for 3 years but kept close in contact with.

Last night I went to NUS for the briefing on the courses I am going to take. Can’t help thinking of the time I spent in USM for 3 years. 3 wonderful years in Penang, knowing all wonderful friends. Dhana, Grace, Angie, Jeannie, I missed you gals very muchie.

This time round of studies will be slightly different because I am taking it part-time. The papers look interesting and prof assured that methodologies papers can be used in any industry. I am allowed to take 2 cross faculty modules, which means I can choose some other non-statistics papers. Have to do some research on this first. Anyway, we have to take the 2 compulsory papers in the first sem. So, no big deal for now.

On the way home last night, Jeannie called. Oh my, she has some kind of telepathy with me? That I missed USM so much and I missed her too? She asked when I am going back to KL again so we can catch up. Oh yes, I have not met her for 2 years now. I thought she wanted to drop me a “bomb”. Recently have been the “hot” time for dropping “bomb” ya. I hope you are lucky next month, Jeannie.

Upon reaching home did I realize while I rushed to school, I forgot to bring the laptop adaptor home. :-( I forgot that today is a public holiday. Praying hard customers do not write too many emails today else, I’ll have problem conserving the battery. :-p

Well, I think I begin to have some “life”. Used to stay in office for the rest of the days, weekends and of course public holidays that ex-colleagues said my life was in office. Now that I take up different challenge in career do I realize that there are so many things to do besides work.

Now I can knock off early, never stayed later than 8pm. Opportunities to travel and meet interesting people from all places. Now, pursuing my dream to study again. At least for another 2.5 years, I will have “life”. :-p

Last but not least, I have just applied for 2 days leave for next weekend. I have already informed my pregnant friend to call upon a few friends for a mini gathering at KLCC on 19th Aug. Just a short one, I have to spend some time with family. Mom, sis and bro have been calling quite often to ask when I am going home. Yes, I really need to go home, still have souvenirs and food from Shanghai and Japan for them. And birthday gift to Cherry too..

It’s home sweet home time I guess….

The Fast & The Furious : Tokyo Drift

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

We went to watch The Fast & The Furious : Tokyo Drift. Well, Black (Sean) surely doesn’t look like an 18 year old. He looked like an OVER aged student in uniform.

Kang (Han) was cool but died the contrary…. *sob*sob*

Anyway, as usual, there were lots of beautiful cars. And when there are beautiful cars, there are beautiful girls… with ULTRA MINI skirt and SUPER exposing tops…. *phewit*

The drifting scenes were good, so good that you feel the “drift” as if you were in the car… *cool*
